EMBODIMENT

Embodiment is about finding identity, body experience and visability. While each person has a unique background and perspective, their shared emotional experiences is what becomes the focus of the film. An intimate look at Berlins queer club scene. Although this social community is freely accessible, it preserves its secrets and rituals, which suggest a certain feeling of life and helps to create identity and socialization, but also the unfolding and individualization, besides social conventions and traditional gender roles. However, in many cases the queer roots of the techno scene seem to have been forgotten, even though today's club culture has been created through spaces for marginalized minorities, especially the black, gay, and trans communities. „Embodiment“ focuses on the social and aesthetic dimensions in order to show the sense of identity and the significance of club culture as an identity-forming medium. The club represents a safe space, which should give members of marginalized groups the opportunity for expression, intimacy and, most importantly, visibility. Therefore, „Embodiment“ intends to make the importance of club culture and safer spaces more accessible by portraying the club experience in an experimental, cinematic setting, where music, dance, the body and identity are the main topics of this experience.
